Medzinárodná konferencia Tolerancia v spoločnosti
Tolerancia je dnes nevyhnutnosťou vo všetkých oblastiach života modernej spoločnosti narážajúcej na limity a obmedzenia v etape preľudnenia planéty, vyčerpávania zdrojov a s tým súvisiacich konfliktov. Konferencia sa koná pod gesciou Európskej akadémie vied a umení, pretože program tolerancie je jednou z jej vlajkových iniciatív. Akadémia založená v roku 1990 vydala chartu Tolerancia – umenie koexistencie, v ktorej sa, okrem iného, hovorí, že:
• tolerancia je individuálna pripravenosť postaviť sa za dôstojnosť každej ľudskej bytosti,
• tolerancia vyžaduje osobnú schopnosť rozumieť iným ľuďom a rešpektovať odlišné správanie,
• garantovaný a pokračujúci rozvoj tolerancie je našou spoločnou povinnosťou a základným elementom každého vzdelania.
Od roku 1997 udeľuje Akadémia Cenu tolerancie, ktorej nositeľmi sa stali Teddy Kolek, Franz kardinál König, Giandomenico Picco, Hans-Dietrich Genscher, Flavio Cotti, Eugen Biser a ďalšie osobnosti.
Netreba iste zdôrazňovať, že práve vývoj v našej transformujúcej sa spoločnosti s iba postupne kryštalizujúcou politickou kultúrou má v oblasti tolerantného spolužitia značné deficity. Poukázať na ne ako aj cesty postupnej nápravy je cieľom tejto konferencie.
International Conference – Tolerance in Society
Tolerance is today inevitable in all areas of life of the modern society facing the limits and restrictions in the period of overpopulating the planet, exhausting the resources and the conflicts that are connected with these phenomena. The conference takes place under the auspices of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts because the programme of tolerance is one of its crucial initiatives. The Academy, established in 1990, issued the Chart of Tolerance – the art of coexistence which also says:
• tolerance is the individual preparedness to stand up for the dignity of each human being,
• tolerance requires the personal ability,
• to understand other people and respect different behaviour, the guaranteed and continuous development, of tolerance is our common obligation and the basic element of every type of education.
Since 1997 the Academy has been awarding the Prize of Tolerance whose winners became Teddy Kolek, Franz Cardinal König, Giandomenico Picco, Hans-Dietrich Genscher, Flavio Cotti, Eugen Biser and other personalities.
It is not necessary to emphasise that just the development of our transforming society (with the political culture that is just being crystallised) has remarkable deficits in the area of the tolerant coexistence. The goal of this conference is also to show them as the first steps on the way of gradual correction.
